Battle of Knits

I'm just trying to keep it real… while knitting.

I joined a congo…

http://hyenacart.com/Home2Home/ I joined the Home 2 Home Congo. I will be stocking my items with some other mamas who make diapers. There is some nice diapers and other things in the congo, so be sure and check it out! There is nothing more wonderful than cloth diapering… well, except supporting stay at home Moms!

I am going to let my Hyena Cart lapse, since it is cheaper to go with the congo and it easier to advertise when you have 7-8 other Moms helping! I can also focus more on stocking the congo. Stop by and check it out, tell me what you think!

Doodles are good for the soul in my opinion. As a teen I filled notebooks with them and as I get older I realize how rare it is that I get the chance to doodle. I try to doodle while on the phone, which is rare.

The inspiration for that doodle is my two guys. Here is a moment I caught on film on Father’s Day. I will cherish this one forever!
I hope everyone out there had a great Father’s Day. We enjoyed ours, the boys had a nap together, then we grilled some steaks and Boo enjoyed the kiddie pool!

My son is powered by SBux! LOL. He had a good old time being like daddy when he grabbed the empty coffee cup from the table. Too funny!!!

I have mentioned that I am on yarn restriction… but this one slipped by the radar… It is called “Harelquin” hand dyed BFL… I have had it on my Etsy faves for about a month. Finally I decided to nab it. As always, it is even better looking in person!
I think I will make it into a skirty with some black trim.

I am moving tomorrow afternoon.

So I have the place about halfway packed up. I am making a list of must-brings to the new house. I will be leaving before the boys really get things into the truck, this way they dont have to worry about an escaping dog or toddler. I am happy to get out of here anyway. The baby and the dog can both get out some energy tearing up the back yard and the short walk to the pool and play ground will be nice.

Besides the obvious “must-brings” like diapers and a dish for the dog’s water, I am bringing my current project which is April’s skirty. Its a lovely shade of pink and so far I am enjoying it, as I knew I would. I am also extremely excited to get everything unpacked and finish off the longies I started. I have this intense love affair with blue faced leicester and this particular one is just killing me to set it down even for a second! Speaking of BFL… the new one I ordered from Hyena Cart should be on its way. Unfortuantely it will most likely arrive after the move. I hate the idea of it sitting in my mail box baking in the disgusting Florida heat and humidity. It deserves better than that! Named after Vincent Van Gogh’s painting, “Starry Night” is another love in my life… It was as if the dyer of this yarn made it just for me! I only wish she had more than the 6oz I bought… I was hoping it could become a Wonderful Wallaby, but there is still a chance that it could happen. Providing the Yarn Gods smile on me and point me towards some matching trim superwash BFL. I have faith!
So wish me luck with this move, I only hope I dont mis-place my sanity for too long. That reminds me… I should go mark the box I packed it in.

Goodbye Tree. Goodbye Pasta.

We watched American Idol last night and as I predicted, Kris won. I feel like the show is completely fixed and I am convinced of that every season. This season belonged to Adam. However, Kris is a more marketable cross-over artist and that is really what American Idol is all about. I still like the show, but Ryan Seacrest cannot expect me to believe that my vote actually counts. Like I told Josh last night… “the illusion of Democracy is a powerful thing.”  Seriously… just look at the soap opera of American Politics! (Now… no more politics or religion. I apologize.) Congrats to Kris… and Glambert, you are probably better off! Just look at what they have done to David Cook.

So during the show… I started a pair of longies for my son. I adore this yarn. Blue Faced Leiceister hand painted in a dark rainbow. It was not cheap, but I can already see how well it will hold up compared to the Malabrigo I have used in the past.

I am using a new pattern called: Tiny Birds Organics   http://www.tinybirdsorganics.com/organicwool/woolpants.html
It is easy so far, and may prove to be a little too easy for me, even as a beginning knitter. That is my prediction.

Here is my dinner. Gluten free pasta, made from corn. It really wasnt too bad. It cooked up faster than regular pasta so it was slightly over cooked. the texture was softer than regular pasta, but the flavor was not that different. I dare say that I could trick Josh into eating it and he would have no clue of the difference.
Yesterday afternoon, they took our tree.
We are in the middle of a Nor’Easter, which is nothing like the Nor’Easter’s I grew up with in Maine and slightly less damaging than a hurricane. We did however, lose our tree. I am looking out the window right now and I miss that tree. Boo enjoyed watching the tree service take it down though.
This tree had serious personality! See?
It took six guys to take the tree down and clean up the mess.
Goodbye tree.

Gator colors

I have died and gone to heaven… I found non-superwash BFL yarn in varigated blue and orange. Not just any blue and orange… Gator blue and Gator orange! Now I am having a hard time deciding what I will make out of it. I dont know if I will have enough to make the hoodie I had in mind for Boo, so I may have to go with a vest!

I set up an appointment with a local photographer who is trying to build a portfolio for himself. All he is charging is film cost ($3-$5) and he will give me a cd and negitives. I am happy about this because I have wanted to get professional shots of Boo for his first birthday, but we dont really have the money for that. Also, I prefer the idea of having pictures done outside in nature, rather than in some white background studio with the same boring ass props that every kid has done. We are going to the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. http://www.kanapaha.org/   I have been there once and it is lovely. I think the pictures will come out wonderful. Especially since Boo is walking every where now. I hope the weather is nice *crossing fingers* and I hope Boo is in a smiling happy mood! What are the chances that I will get both of those things on the same day???
