Battle of Knits

I'm just trying to keep it real… while knitting.

You are currently browsing the Stumble Upon category.

Do you ‘Stumble Upon’?

Oh, wow. As if I need another reason to be on the Internet? I mean seriously, between email, blogging here, BBC, Ravelry, twitter, diaper swappers, Etsy and Hyena Cart… the last thing I need is another Internet black hole to suck me in, when I should be reading, counting and singing ABC’s to my son! Well, I am screwed, because I finally found STUMBLE UPON. Jeeez. I honestly played with it for an hour and a half today. I LOVE IT! Let me explain it to you if you are not aware of this addiction.

First, of course, you create an account. (Mine is “BattleOfKnits” if you want to ‘friend’ me.) You then select preferences of categories you like to search for. Some of mine are: Crafts, Knitting/Crochet, Cooking, Nutrition, Parenting, and Medieval History, just to name a few. Then you download a toolbar… which normally I cringe at the idea of this, but you need it, trust me. On the toolbar, you have: Stumble, Like This, Don’t Like, and some other stuff. You click stumble and it takes you through your categories and just sifts through different web pages… If you like it you click the cute thumbs up sign “I LIKE THIS” and if you don’t, you’ve got it, baby!  Thumbs down!!! The pages you like get saved into your favorites and you can leave a comment and review about the page! How freakin‘ cool is that?
I first was Stumbling through hobby-craft pages and it was all origami crap. No offense to you paper-folding fools, but it just is not my thing, so Thumbs Down! Well after awhile it tailors to what you like. Now I don’t get anymore origami pages. SO COOL! I love it. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love google search. I cant live without it, but Stumble Upon takes out the steps that annoy me when I just want to surf! Its convenient web surfing… no hassles! Well, that isn’t true. The only thing I didn’t like was a few pages seemed to override the toolbar, so it disappeared… so i had to click the back button a few times since my “stumble” button was missing. Not cool.
I seriously have to start limiting my computer time. I have a problem. I will start tomorrow!
